My favorite thing about theatre is getting to play with my fellow actors and discover something new in every performance. I love playing characters with a lot of heart and sass. My current musical theatre obsession is actor-musician shows.

Currently, I am coming to the end of a busy year as an Associate Artist at New Stage Theatre in Jackson, MS--my first job after graduating from Winthrop, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre in May 2024!

Favorite roles include Jo March(Little Women: the Broadway Musical), Dorothy (The Wizard of Oz), Johanna (Sweeney Todd), Brooke (Noises Off), and Dyanne (Million Dollar Quartet Christmas).

Some of my long-time passions are choral music, piano, musical theatre, history, songwriting, playwriting, reading, and drinking coffee on porches. Some of my newer interests are Shakespeare, theatre for youth, vocal pedagogy, and weightlifting.

My dream theatre jobs would involve: performing as a princess; leading a musical television series; originating a role in a new musical; refreshing and bringing my own experiences and expression to iconic, well-known roles (even those that may be considered antiquated); combining my passions for piano or choral music with musical theatre.

I've recently discovered a knack for learning and distinguishing multiple tracks (such as a swing or understudy might do). I served as a swing for the Rockettes-style group at my college (learned 9 roles and performed 1) and covered three tracks in Little Women: The Broadway Musical (performed nightly as Clarissa/Ensemble, performed once as Jo March, and also covered Meg March). I also toured three different shows concurrently with New Stage Theatre's education shows and managed to keep them all straight! I am certainly interested in exploring this skill further.

I'm overwhelmed with pride and gratitude! As an actor, I am well acquainted with the applause-induced heart flutter and sore cheeks. To feel that same sensation from an aisle seat in the back row this weekend was beyond words. This was a passion project for me, and I am so thankful for everyone who helped bring The Moors to life.

2024-2025 New Stage Associate Artists reporting for duty!🫡

So happy I got to spend my 15th summer at camp (marking a full year of my life spent in the woods)! Now I'm ready for another full year of theatre and "the real world"...but first, a nap.

Belated thank you to @winthropapo for a fun night at the Caroline Awards! Congrats to all the winners and nominees (especially those from R+J🩵).

Goodness gracious, what a privilege it has been to create with these sweet folks (and so many more)! Kissing "No Business Like Show Business" goodbye on Sunday was bittersweet.

I am so excited to have presented my first full recital as a vocalist today--hopefully the first of many as I continue a musical life. When I found out that music majors are required to give recitals, I was jealous of the opportunity. Thank goodness for an amazing voice teacher, @ashleywestdavis and fabulous accompanist, @jenkempka14 who helped make this learning experience available to me as a theatre major! Their influence on me during my college career will last a lifetime.

If you asked me a year ago if I thought I would ever be in one of Shakespeare's plays, I probably would have said "maybe, but I don't really want to or think I'd be good..." uh oh...I caught the Shakespeare bug and now I can't wait to be in another one. I wish I could have watched this gorgeous show from the audience every night, but I know performing it was just as meaningful. This weekend was a great opportunity to try to learn something about myself as a performer and meet lots of new people! What really sticks out to me is that as young performers, we all have different journeys and strengths, but we all share the same passion as we pave our own path into this industry💗

As a cast mate said, this show has the power to turn around someone's whole day. Taking on Dorothy always made me feel lighter, more empowered, and able to find joy more easily, and I carried that with me after stepping out of her shoes every night. I'm trying to maintain those lessons learned now, 2 weeks after closing, and I hope I'll carry them with me for the rest of my life.

Checked "performing in a 24-hour musical" off the bucket list a few weeks ago! The show was High School Musical On Stage and I played the operatic drama geek, Cynthia. It was a whirlwind experience that I'm so thankful for!

This past week, I got to participate in the Varna International Music Festival! Singing Mozart's Requiem and Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna with a huge organ/orchestra as well as some best of @winthrop.choirs repertoire, seeing my fellow singers in Suor Angelica and The Impresario, and exploring the sights and sounds of Bulgaria was a unique experience that I will always be thankful for!

Both the cast of Pippin and of my original one-act reading, Not Your Mother's Motherhood, were honored at the @winthropapo Caroline Awards!

Not Your Mother's Motherhood was recognized for participation in the 2022-2023 season.

Pippin won best ensemble, best assistant stage managers (Emily Dennison and Kieran Hedlund), best student costume design (fabulous @maryhgarber ) and best lead performer (the unbelievably talented and kind @sydneyislarge ). Still so honored to be part of this team!

(please let me know if I missed any awards for Pippin, I know there were a bunch :))

It was all squinty smiles from me last night, seeing and hearing "Not Your Mother's Motherhood" presented to an audience for the first time! Thank you to everyone who attended and who asked questions in our talk-back. Y'all have no idea how hype your participation, laughs, applause, cringes, and smiles made me for the future of this piece.

To the cast: y'all put as much care into this project as I did and I couldn't have asked for more.

Why I chose a Bachelor of Arts...

I love performing, but I knew I wanted to have my hands in more than just the on-stage aspect of theatre, and a B.A. allowed me to do just that. I used my time not in performance-based classes to take stage management, costuming, and design courses. I minored in Educational Studies, which combined my love for working with kids that I gained from years of summer camp with my love for the arts. As a participant of the Honors Program at Winthrop, I was also able to stage a reading of my play, "Not Your Mother's Motherhood" as my Culminating Honors Thesis Project.
